A typical Tuesday (Not! It's really Monday but Tuesday fits the word "typical" better)

Tonight I made a carrot-ginger soup which I "invented" the recipe for. It consists of Carrots, Chipotle hot sauce, cashew butter and "cilantro/garlic/ginger" as well as "salt/pepper/cumin" to taste. Yum! It's like carrot cream. I also make a mean cornbread, which I whipped up to go with it. One could call it an "old family recipe" which i modified by accident. Best cornbread in the Hudson Valley! Try me on that one it's true!

Later on I headed over to the Open Mic night in New Paltz. The usual Monday night. Though tonight in particular all of the music was particularly "ear-flattering"... Even the regular crowd of "old farts" played a very spunky arrangement of songs.

Here's a great song that my friend and I are newly obsessed with. One should watch the video as well first time around:

We're listening to it right now! You should to when you get a chance!

In between attic-work

As I sit on my first-ever carpeted floor (which I have dreamed about since the age of 11 at my friend Tanya's house for the first time, where each room was so luxuriously topped of with it's very own spread of polyester floor blanket), I struggle with making the choice of what on Earth is a proper topic for blog post numero uno!

I'm not quite familiar with the blogging world. I have read from a total of, perhaps, two blogs in my life which I can remember. Each was both recommended, and presented to me in one fell swoop by my mother, who is a midwife and on call 24/7. Her down time is valuable and treasured, and that being said, she would not waste it reading sh***y blogs. Her standards are high, and therefore I suppose mine must be too.

I feel an enormous amount of pressure to make this post worth while, in between 5 minute blocks of helping my new "landlady" organize the attic. My current attic-oriented job being to move all of the heavy items to their newly-found crevices, I'm called upon only when a heavy item is in need of re-location.

After hours of meticulous, deliberate pondering over the disturbingly wide variety of possible topics for a first blog entry, I finally feel inspired to simply plant my a** down, and type away! What a great feeling! My blog may not yet meet the standards of my mother, but it's a good start if I'm enjoying myself.

Oh, about the banana... That would be my favorite fruit. Which, as it turns out, delightfully rhymes with my first name! The photo is a picture of me picking bananas from my backyard at the time. It was taken by my host sister, Annalisse, in Monteverde, Costa Rica, where I spent my final year of high school. My year abroad was well worth my while, as there is little that is more gratifying than the chance to enjoy a fresh picked banana.

My hopes for this blog are, for the time being, simple. On a given day, readers will find short stories and poetry, funny stories from my life which I feel are worth blogging about, and hilarious jokes I've recently encountered. If I can figure out how to work such magic, I will post links for beloved music I want to share. I may post essays about my deep and inner-most thoughts on the world, on life, and on politics. What you Find on this new and developing blog will be consistent with my life, and the lives of those around me.

Well, my landlady's a-callin'! I hope that I've done well for my first entry! If you've read this far, I suppose I have... Please comment with suggestions, questions or even constructive criticism! I'm off to the attic.
